Mary F. Baca, CWK, CCTP, LPCC is a Licensed Counselor in the state of New Mexico. She has maintained a thriving private practice, Odyssey Counseling, for 29 years, employing several therapists, and a holistic practice, Resilience Integrative Services as well as Shifting Perspectives Specialized Training Institute and Allies for First Responders. Included in Mary’s repertoire of specialty areas are PTSD, acute stress, depression, anxiety, and grief. She is trained in EMDR, a powerful modality she's used for 19 years, in addition to CBT, guided visualization, EFT, Wholistic Kinesiology, Reiki, and more. Mary actively utilizes holistic modalities in addressing her clients’ mental, physical, and emotional issues as a Holistic Counselor. She also has developed training curriculum “Holistic Counselor Certification” and is currently training other mental health providers in holistic modalities.

Mary is available to help patients starting as young as age 12. Specialties Include : Certified Clinical Trauma Professional, Trained in Level 1, 2, Group Protocol, and several advanced trainings in Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR); EFT Tapping, Intuitive guidance certification, cognitive behavioral therapy; behavior modification; wholistic kinesiology; Reiki Level 1 & 2; child abuse; depression; anxiety; trauma; workplace and organizational dynamics; post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD); domestic violence; sexual abuse, etc.

Mary began working with first responders 25 years ago having been married to a police officer for 14 years and having friends and family in law enforcement, she quickly became passionate about helping this population and their families. Mary has been a professional trainer for over 20 years and is a licensed continuing education provider through the NM Counseling and Therapy Practice Board and nationally through the National Board of Counselors. Through her trainings she educates the public and workplace environments on a myriad of topics. Included BUT not limited to is raising awareness about the emotional occupational hazards involved in the fields of law enforcement, fire, EMS, dispatch/911 operators, corrections, medical investigators, victims advocates, and medical professionals. Mary has created numerous trainings for professionals that want to work with first responders and trauma-based career professionals. For several years Mary has conducted these trainings all over the state. She has provided trainings for NM Office of the Medical Investigator, NM District Attorney’s Office, NM Attorney General’s Office and several private companies including to the public through her business “Shifting Perspectives Specialized Training Institute. Mary has a first responder training team she feels is a powerful collaboration in delivering several of these trainings. Mary started a non-profit organization called “Behind The Badge NM" in 2016 which has a peer support team, annual fundraisers, and assists first responders with paying for counseling and ancillary services like therapeutic massage, meditation and reiki as a means of addressing their health and wellness needs.

Mary loves people and animals and feels it is her life purpose to help promote healing in both these arenas.
